If you made it this far into my website, thank you! In September 2024 I proudly brought 4Roots Tax Advisory into existence. While my leap into the world of entrepreneurship felt sudden at times, it’s built on a foundation of over a decade of Canadian Tax Advisory experience.

• Over the last 10 years, I’ve worked mostly in middle market public accounting firms, with a final stint at one of the Big 4.

• Since 2018, I’ve also been a facilitator for CPA Canada’s In-depth Tax Program, guiding tax professionals through each level multiple times.

• In addition to founding 4Roots Tax Advisory, I am also a Senior Advisor to Blackwood Family Enterprise Services, a team dedicated to helping family enterprises achieve lasting harmony.

• Finally, as you may have noticed the designations above, I’m a CPA (legacy CA-2013) as well as a Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA).

Now getting to the question I’m asked the most: Why did you leave a steady public accounting job to start your own practice?

Well, for the full story, you’ll have to buy me a coffee first. But the short answer is simple: First, Canadian tax is becomming increasingly complex, pushing many business owners to seek expertise that’s often only available from large, expensive accounting and law firms. My mission is to bring that big-firm tax expertise to Canadian businesses in a way that’s both efficient and affordable.

Second—and most important to me—one day, my kids (the ones you see on this page) will come to me for career advice. When they do, I want to be able to tell them to chase their dreams, because that’s exactly what their dad did. 

And so, 4Roots Tax Advisory was born. Where is this journey going? That’s still unfolding. In the meantime, I’m just going to enjoy the ride.
